Word for Today: Wrestle

“...He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.” Colossians 4:12b

The scripture above speaks about a man named Epaphras and how he has labored in love over the people of Colosse. Epaphras labored in love through wrestling in prayer so that the people of Colosse not only stand firm but stand firm in all the will of God with maturity and FULL assurance. How we need more people like Epaphras today.

Epaphras was not someone well known or popular as the other apostles. But Epaphras was faithful to do his part in serving and loving the Body of Christ – wrestling in prayer with no desire to be recognized or publicly rewarded.

Who has been an Epaphras in your life? Who can you be an Epaphras to and for? For those who have been beneficiaries of the faithful prayers of an Epaphras in your life, may God help you to remember and be thankful to those who have privately wrestled in prayer for you so I that you are able to stand firm today. And for those who have been an Epaphras, may God allow you to see the fruits of your labor to which can fuel you in the days to come.

Epaphras. Not a well known man but surely he made an impact. As the people of Colosse, our lives have also been dramatically altered because someone chose to wrestle in prayer on our behalf.

Prayer: Dear Father, I praise you for those brothers and sisters who have gone before me. Thank you for the Epaphras you have placed in my life that have faithfully and privately prayed me through to the place I am today. Help me to live a life of gratitude not only unto you but to my fellow brethrens who have fought the good fight that I may partake in your blessings today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
