Word for Today: Resist

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you…” James 4:7-8a

The scripture above requires a proactive action on our part. When the enemy presses in on every side from every which way, resist him and he will flee from you. Praise God for He always provides a way out!!

There may be days where the enemy appears to be stronger and“winning.” Do not give in and resolve to lie down and let him have his way. Scripture says to resist and he will flee from you. It doesn’t say he “may” or there is a chance, he will in the Name of Jesus!

To resist requires an action. We must stand firm, refuse to give into, oppose and refuse to accept whatever the enemy is trying to throw at you, lie to you about or trap you in his snare. Let the truth of God’s Word illuminate your path to allow you to see the traps of the enemy so that you may resist him and stand up on top of him for the glory of our Lord.

After you resist the enemy, draw close to your God and allow Him to fill you with His truth and His love. When we do our part, God is faithful to fill the gap and do His part. The amazing thing is that God has already done His part through His Son Jesus Christ on the Cross over 2000 years. The enemy is a defeated foe. Let’s begin tolive in light of that truth.

Prayer: Dear Father, I praise you for I am victorious. You are calling me to rise up and take my rightful place. The enemy has no power over me. Give me strength to resist when he attacks and to constantly draw near to you for you are my Shelter and Protector. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
