Word for Today: It's Secure!

"Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!" Psalm 16:5-6 (NIV)

Glory be to God for not only are our souls and lives entirely secure in Him, our inheritance, our destiny and "lot" is perfectly secured and protected. It has already been determined and decided what's yours and according to Scripture above, it is "pleasant" and "a wonderful inheritance."

For some of you reading this, what hope to be reminded that God has not forgotten or passed you over but knowing the truth that He has always had you in mind from the beginning of time. And for others, you may know of this "inheritance" business but you may be wondering when you will actually get to see this "pleasant land and wonderful inheritance" because surely everything around you looks less than pleasant and wonderful. Wherever you find yourself, God is saying this, "trust me and know that I am a good God. I alone am God. I hold all things, including time. I desire to be your inheritance, your great Reward."

There is nothing that can change, alter or sway God's mind into giving what's yours to someone else. It's just not possible because God is not man that He would change His mind and not keep His promise. The issue today is not whether God wants to give it to you or if you have an inheritance, you have one and it's already yours. God is waiting for YOUR taking. In other words, what the Lord has purposed to give to me before the foundations of time, it's mine and it's secure. Only I can forfeit receiving my full inheritance because of my own choices or doing. Am I saying that we have to work for an inheritance? No. I am simply saying we have an active part in possessing what God has already deemed ours. Our God has done His part. He is telling us to possess what is already ours by actively and intentionally grabbing hold of it.

We are not fighting for an inheritance where we would have to "out-serve" someone else to impress God. We are not competing against one another. God has already determined your lot – He's in control. He is saying, "Go get what's yours. You own it; now go possess it in your hand."

Everyday as you choose to love, live, and think like God and most importantly, walk with God, that my friend is you actively and intentionally grabbing hold of your inheritance. You possessing your "inheritance" or your "land" is not an independent result or byproduct from your everyday walk with God. Your everyday walk with God is your sole inheritance but because God is a God of abundance, He gives additional bonuses such as "tangible" inheritances and things of that sort.

In conclusion, please don't get so caught up and stressed out about "possessing" something that is already yours that we forget and miss out on enjoying this wonderful process and journey called our Life in Christ and the beautiful (we don't always think it as such during the process) and painful at times process of sanctification. Not one person has "arrived." God is saying today, "be at peace knowing that I am God. I have your plan, purpose and lot secure. Don't be so concerned as to how and when you'll get there, enjoy the everyday process knowing it is bringing you closer and closer to your "inheritance" but even more, you are being drawn closer and closer to me! Enjoy me, for I am your inheritance, your portion, your Great Reward!"
