Word for Today: Commander and Chief

“Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3

Today is a historical and memorable day. A new President will be sworn into office.
As many Americans are hopeful and hope in our new president to bring about change, to rebuild our economy and for some people seeking a “savior,” we praise God for His Truth and reminder today that “…The LORD is God.” There is only One Savior, One Way! God is Supreme, He is LORD and He is our soul’s Commander and Chief. We believe in man but we hope and trust in God and God alone. Regardless of where you stand politically, we as believers are instructed by God to pray for our leaders and those in government positions. We pray that they would fear God and submit themselves under His Lordship. What a great time to be alive as the Glory of God is being magnified!

God has given the Church (believers) a great platform to point all mankind towards their Maker and Sustainer especially during these difficult and transitional times. Many will look towards the new president, vice president, government officials for security, solutions and peace but we a people belong to God look to Him. We are His and He is ours, there is no safer place than abiding in His presence, in His pasture.

Declare that God is God today, dwell in His green pastures and above all, seek to bring others into the fold. We enjoy safety and green pastures not for our own comfort but for the sake of bringing others into the flock.

Prayer: Dear Lord, You are my God and the One in Whom I trust. Life is firmly built upon you and I long to dwell in your pasture all the days of my life. Help me to remember that I belong to you and to bring others into the Family of God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
