Reminded
1. Everyone needs compassion. Period. Regardless of what they have done, where they have been and the circumstances surrounding. Everyone needs love. Everyone needs forgiveness. Everyone needs mercy.
2. Sin is sin. There is no sin greater than the other. Sadly enough, as Christians I think we sometimes forget this truth. We forget what it was like to be in that desperate position of needing God's mercy. May God help us to remember the depths of the pit He rescued us from so that our hearts may be contiually filled with compassion and mercy towards those who are now just finding there way out of the pit. We have all been in a place where we needed God's mercy - though undeserving b/c of disobedience or something we brought on ourselves. Have mercy towards others.
3. Do not complain, do not judge, do not withhold mercy, love and compassion towards someone if you have not been on your knees praying for them, if you have not extended a hand during their time of need or discipled/ministered the Truth of God's Word to them so that they have been equipped to make right decisions. Yes, everyone is ultimately responsible for their own actions and there are consequences. But we as a Church are called to love and reconcile people to God. Get your hands dirty and go out and minister. We can't fault people for making decisions if we have not done our responsibility to love, care and tend to their needs. Rise up Church and do your part!
Through a series of conversations and text messages...God reminded me of the following as I ministered to a few this past week. I found myself in the places all above and God broke me. In my wrestling, the one truth that kept resounding was "everyone needs compassion, everyone needs forgiveness, everyone needs mercy and everyone needs love." Keep that at the forefront as you minister and you can't go wrong.
