Guilty

Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.

Today's "Guideline" by Dr. Harold Sala speaks about gratitude & the opposite of that of course would be ingratitude. I often find myself guilty - guilty of ingratitude. The following is taken out of today's commentary by Dr. Sala:

" For what should be we grateful? For a starter, be thankful for what you have. Thank God for what you do have...

Then be thankful for what you don’t have! Like what? Well you don’t have TB, or a wolf knocking at your door.

Be thankful for the grace of God which has blessed your life. “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

I am confident that one of the gravest sins which we commit today is that of ingratitude. L. R. Akers once wrote, “Gratitude has been called the memory of the heart. A heart without gratitude,” he wrote, “is like a grate filled with fuel but unlighted, a cold and dead thing.”

A self-sufficient people are often guilty of the sin of ingratitude. They have forgotten the blessing of God’s grace which has showered them with benefits untold. They have presumed that it was their cleverness or their efforts which produced the harvest.

Gratitude is far more than just saying “Thanks!”-- which often rings hollow and without meaning. It is the deep acknowledgment that you have a debt which you can never repay, because God paid one He did not owe.

Take time to reflect on the nature and character of God and pause to remember His bountiful blessings."
