Word: The Pits (Wed. 6/24)
“Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems yourlife from the pit and crown you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.” Psalm 103:2-5
At one time or another as we journey with Christ, we may find ourselves in a pit, on the edge of a pit or crawling our way out of apit. God does not cause but He allows for whatever reason He deems necessary to get us to a place where we cry out to Him. Again, God does not throw us into a pit nor does He cause the pit. God is a good God all of the time and ALL His thoughts and ways are kind and good towards us, always.
Perhaps you were thrown into a pit by the actions of someone else andchoose to remain in that pit or perhaps you found yourself in a self-made pit by the course of decisions you choose to make. Regardless of the source, God is reminding you today that He is The Source and He is your Way out. You do not have to remain in that pit. Just as God provided His very own Son as our Atoning Sacrifice, so He has provided Himself as The Answer to our pit problem.
Today, find your way out of that pit or away from a potential pit as you find your way to God. Seek Him, and watch Him lift you up and out and place you on Glorious Solid Ground, upon God Himself! God came to redeem what was lost and He is in the business of redeeming and saving us daily. The moment we cry out to Him, He comes to our rescue. You were not made to be a pit-dweller. May God help us today to desire out of the pit and for grace to do whatever it takes to get out and stay out. From a redeemed and sanctified former pit dweller, let not your heartgrow weary for NOTHING is lost. We come out stronger and more in love as we find God and see Him in a way we may not have had we not experienced. We come face to face with His Saving and Powerful Love and all will see His greatness.
Prayer: Dear Father, I was created for you and to enjoy the beauty of being found in You. I trust and rest in your Sovereignty and Goodness. May I desire you more than I desire the caves I have become comfortable with. I earnestly cry out to you. Come to my rescue and shed light into my situation that I may have hope to see. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
