Word for Today: Children

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are…” 1 John 3:1

Out of all the things God could have called us, He calls us His children. We are His precious daughter and son!

How radically liberating and empowering would our lives be if we truly understood the fullness and greatness of what it means to be the child of the King Most High! How different we would view our situation, struggles, failures and past sins if we constantly lived from the platform that we are a daughter or son of God Almighty – Yahweh! Truly how great is His love that He would choose us to be His son or daughter, His beloved children.

God sent His Son Jesus that we may be grafted back into God’s family. He saved us first and foremost so that He could be our Father and we His children. Take a moment and wrap your brain around that truth. We are sons and daughters first and foremost. Period. Anything we do from that position is simply an overflow of thankfulness to our Heavenly Father.

God could never love us anymore or any less than when we first came to know Him as Abba Father– Daddy. He loves you for who you are – His child not for what you can do. He’s all powerful; He needs nothing from us but passionately desires for your love.

Rest and rejoice in the truth of who we are today, “children of God!” Nothing will ever change your position and nothing will shake the Father’s love towards you.

Prayer: Dear Father, I approach you boldly as your daughter/son and you my Father. Thank you for loving me for who I am and not what I do. You created me for a relationship and out of the overflow of that relationship I serve you. Thank you for loving me and adopting me as your own. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
