Word for Today: Provision (12/15)

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

We serve an awesome and mighty God. He is a good God and a God of divine and abundant supply. He supplies for our every need from the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental – He is our Sole – "Soul" Provider. Halleluiah!

I sense in my spirit that we need to be reminded today of the truth that we can trust in God's timing and believe that He will provide and orchestrate all things perfectly together when He sees fit. Our human tendency is to want something all at one time and at the exact moment we want it. We want God to back up His truck of blessings for our lives and unload all of that goodness at one time. Some people may amen that notion and think that would make life so much easier and more enjoyable. I personally think we would miss out on so much of the "real" blessing and therefore challenge us to realign our thinking today.

What do I mean by the "real" blessing? The real blessing is not the actual provision or result itself, it is finding the face of God like none other during the seeking, waiting, finding, and trusting that makes up our relationship with God. If God were to give us everything we wanted at the moment we requested or thought best, where is faith in action and where is the chase and find that is the very essence of our faith – a personal and intimate relationship with God? How we would miss out on the real blessing of being found at the Cross and finding the face of God in a real and personal way through this ongoing continuous fellowship with God. Be reminded today that God's supply and provision is not measured and given in accordance to our finite wisdom but in His infinite and loving wisdom. Praise God!

God is a good Father – He is also a God of order and He paces every step perfectly. The beautiful thing about our love relationship with God is that it is a process and a journey – there is a continuation and it is ongoing. Trustfully and faithfully wait upon the Lord knowing that He is in control and surely He is a Sovereign God. Though we may at times feel as if we have messed up or missed out, we have got to believe that God is even greater than those feelings. Everything boils down to this, submitting to the Lordship of God and trusting in His Character – He has a perfect track record!
