Word for Today: Open
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62:5;8
There is no doubt that today we live in a society and world filled with many uncertainties and variable factors. On top of what is already going on around us, we often may find many additional uncertainties and variable factors colliding together within our own personal "world." It is then easy to feel overwhelmed and longing for everything to just stop for one moment so we can catch our breath or a break from it all. Hate to tell ya but the world ain't stopping! BUT, we praise God for our souls CAN find that needed rest – when we rest in Him alone.
God's Word today reminds us that we can find rest in Him for our hope comes from Him. He is our refuge as we trust in Him and simply and honestly pour out our hearts to him. When the demands and pressures of life, adversity of choice and adversity of no choice comes our way, it is tempting to run for cover or to sleep it all away. The last thing we desire to do is to speak or be moved to action when we are overwhelmed. Things can seem a bit hazy and blurry because our mind seems to be racing in a hundred different directions and we can't seem to get a grasp of even where to begin. Take heart, God has a plan and He is in control!
Wherever this word finds you today, simply open your mouth by faith and pour out your heart to God – the good, the bad, the ugly, the doubts, the fears, the questions, the frustrations, and even the hurts. God delights when His children trust and step in faith. As you open your mouth to speak whatever fragments and broken words you can muster, God will meet you right where you are. Part of the rest is found in the release as you are pouring out to God, He'll in turn pour back into you - Living Water. Give Him something to work with as you open your mouth. He has been waiting.
