Word for Today: In Awe
“How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth!” Psalm 47:2
Depending on what part of town you live in, it may be snowing right now! How amazing it is since I have heard Houston doesn’t get much snow at all. As I was driving home from work, I saw many people with their windows rolled down and arms straight out to catch the snow – as if they were checking to see if it is real or to just feel the snow in their hands. Many people were amazed at what they were seeing as if they have never seen it or if they were seeing it for the first time. They had such an excitement and childlike joy in their expression.
I sense God is challenging His people today to evaluate our own hearts to see if we still have that “first” time excitement and childlike joy when it comes to our Heavenly Father. When you experience God’s grace and love in tangible ways today, are you grateful and excited as if you never received something like that before?
As we walk with God, I believe it is fitting for us to be excited and joyful everyday when we think about His grace, forgiveness and love like the very first time when we accepted Him as Lord and Savior. How about you? Are you in awe when you think about His goodness and grace or have you grown accustomed to it that you don’t even think much about it?
As cool and exciting it is to see the snow or whatever it may be that gets you jumping out of your seat, remember the One who created it into existence and allows it to be. God wants us to be excited and joyful when we think about Him as if it were the first time, for the rest of our life.
