Word for Today: Delight
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
God longs to be our sole delight. He desires to be The One who makes our heart race, our smile a little bigger, and our days a little sweeter. He wants to be The Source of ALL THINGS to and for us.
Did you know that God has been chasing for your heart from the moment He formed you in your mother’s womb? He’s just that crazy about you! Before we could offer Him anything “great” or worth giving, He already deemed us valuable and priceless when He gave His Son Jesus to win us back for a relationship. What an awesome demonstration of the greatest act of pursuit!
Today God is reminding us that He desires not only a personal relationship – our worship, our friendship, our fellowship or even the gifts and talents we offer for the Kingdom, above all, He desires for us to be completely satisfied in Him. He longs for us to delight in Him – to enjoy Him, to find pleasure in Him; not just in what He can do or offer to us. He wants to be our satisfaction and the One that quenches our thirst and desire for anything this world can offer.
Even more, the beautiful and awesome thing about our God is that He is a good God and a God of abundance. His Word further states as we delight in Him – pleasure in Him alone, He will give us the desires of our heart because those desires will be God desires as they are birthed out of our delight in Him. What a God of abundance!
Make it your hearts' desire to delight in Him alone.
