Word for Today: The "G" Word

Word for Today: The “G” Word

A six letter word…GOSPEL or GOSSIP.

Our pastor mentioned something in his sermon yesterday that caught my attention. He said something to the affect of this: “If we do not share the gospel, then we will gossip.” Very clever play on words & it holds much truth! Both words begin with the letter “g,” both have six letters and both are complete opposites. The Gospel builds and brings hope. Gossip tears down and brings destruction – hopelessness.

God is challenging His Warriors today to choose whether we will use our mouths to spread the gospel or to spread gossip.

If you have watched the news lately or gotten around non-believers, there is much doom and gloom in the air. We HAVE got to give them something different than what they are currently experiencing.

God’s Word says this in I Peter 3:15: “…always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…”

People desperately need to hear of Our Hope in Jesus Christ and it needs to spread like wildfire. As quickly as gossip can spread because it is “juicy,” the Gospel can spread like wildfire in the same manner. The Gospel is juicy, because it is Life Giving and it quenches the thirst of all mankind.

Today friends, will you spread the Gospel or will you fall prey into spreading Gossip? It’s your choice. May the name of Jesus Christ be the “talk of the town.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for reminding that there are hurting people in need of a real answer. Please help me to live my life as an offering onto you choosing to spread the Gospel in speech, action and above all, how I choose to live you my life. May my life be a Life Song of praise unto your Name. Help me to be bold to stand and to speak up. In Jesus Name, Amen.
