Word for Today: Seeds

What seeds are you sowing today? Whether you purposefully set out to influence or to affect change, the fact that you are alive and living, you are making an impact, a lasting impression.

I challenge you today to examine yourself and to ask, “what seeds am I sowing?”

Are you sowing seeds of faith or seeds of doubt when times of trouble present itself? Over the past few days I have been presented several sowing opportunities that have come about in the form of a hardship/test. I call it a sowing opportunity in the form of a trial because that is just what it is. I choose to believe and trust that nothing happens or comes into my life without the permission of God and first filtering through His hands. God did not cause the situation but surely He allows it in order for me to grow in trust of Him and maturity.

When we face a situation that is beyond our scope and ability, we have two options:

Sow a seed of faith OR
Sow a seed of doubt

Whichever seed you choose to sow, you will reap the results and the harvest in due time, whether it is negative or positive. God’s word says this:

“… a man reaps what He sows…” Galatians 6:8

The law of “if and then” is in affect. If we sow a seed of faith, we will produce faith and the fruits and rewards that come about of a life of faith – we sow into the supernatural, what we cannot see right now which is the hand of God. On the other end, if we sow a seed of doubt, we will produce chaos and confusion and fruits that do not bear witness that God is good and in control – we sow into our flesh, what we can see right before us, our situation. A seed of faith adds to our life because we are building upon our faith – whether big or small, we are building. However, seeds of doubt eat away at our faith and essentially deplete and take away from our life, tearing down our faith.

Whichever situation you may find yourself in, we praise God that He is ever patient with us. His grace and love trumps our lack of trust manifested in decisions we make or how we choose to react to unpleasant situations. His grace is sufficient in our time of weakness and made great in our time of doubt and worry. Give Him praise!

In conclusion, whatever seed you sow, you will reap. There is a world out there that is watching us. We are constantly being “examined” as to how we respond to various situations, how we react, the words we choose, where we go, what we do and ultimately, how we present the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our life message. Again, whether you purposefully set out to influence or to affect change, the fact that you are alive and living, you do have an impact.

People today need a different solution and remedy than what the world has to offer and God is watching to see how we choose to sow. Do you trust God?

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that you are God and that you are in control of every detail and situation of my life and all that takes place in this world. I choose today to sow seeds of faith by faith. May my heart not grow weary or faint until I see the harvest to which you have promised me. By your grace, I choose to present a beautiful picture of my life for all to see, not a perfect life because there is no one perfect but you but a life that choose to trust in you alone. Please grant me the strength to trust and believe in every season of life. I love you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
