Forerunner
As we armor up and position ourselves to take possession of our "Promise Land" with great excitement and zeal, let us not forget a few things that needs to be the forerunner if we desire longevity:
1. Pace and Balance - Yes, keep pushing forward and press in with all your might and strength. But pace and balance all things so you do not find yourself burn out or 10 steps ahead of where God told you or wants you to be. Pace and balance. Steady and steadfast. God never wants us to climb so high and come crashing down because we did not develop endurance, muscles, faith or character to remain.
Zeal is great but being overzealous without consultation and instruction from the Lord can create a mess and/or cause people to become your "project" or the avenue to which you get to "test" or exercise your own agenda. You can have pure motives but make a "wrong" move if not paced, balanced and consultated with God for the green light before proceeding.
2. It is all for Love - God (for He is love) and His people. Wherever God chooses to take you and what He allows you to do for His Kingdom, remember, it is all for love, with love and in love. Your motive must be pure and for this one purpose, love. Love must be the compelling and motiviating factor in all that you do --- love in the way that benefits that person, not you or your preference.
3. Remember your identify - you are a Son and a Daughter. Your role, your gifting, your platform, your ministry, etc. may change from season to season but your high calling as a son or daughter of the Most High King remains. Invest in that and may that be enough for you before you chase titles and roles that add to your wholeness but never was meant to be your complete identity.
