Word for Today: Daily (11/7)
We are to claim and walk out the freedom and victory we have in Christ daily. It is a conscious choice that we make everyday to wake up, claim and live in and out of the freedom that is already ours.
There will be days where you may feel great and invincible from sin, the past and thoughts that once held you captive. And then there are days where it seems everything you do is wrong, the offenses stack up against you, you feel backed up to a wall and feeling anything but victorious. Rest assure, you are okay. The fact that we still have our “days” is a simple realization that we are human, and are still living in a sin infested world.
We praise God our freedom and victory was a “one-time” deal when Christ died and rose again conquering sin and death over 2000 years ago. It is ours because of what Jesus did and because God says so! As beneficiaries of the cross, we no longer have to “fight” or “work” for that freedom and victory because we already possess it. What we are to do is guard, protect, claim and live that free life out daily.
God’s Word says this when the past creeps up and we feel less than free:
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” II Corinthians 10:4-5
We are not fighting for our freedom or victory for it is already ours. We are “fighting” against the lies of the enemy that wants to tell us that we are NOT free by bringing about feelings of guilt and condemnation. Now how do we fight? We “fight” by taking captive every thought that is not of God and does not speak truly of who we are in Christ and Who He is.
It is ours. Let’s claim it daily by faith.
