Word for Today: Captive (11/24)

What or who holds you captive today? What has consumed your thoughts and has captured your heart today?

As I was driving to work this morning, God brought the word "captive" to mind. We are all captive to something or to someone, the question today is to what and to whom?

Are they thoughts of thanksgiving, gratitude and loving memories of our Faithful Savior? Or have your thoughts and heart been consumed with the failures of the past, the worries of your day, and the uncertainty of tomorrow? Wherever you find yourself, stop for a moment and breathe in and breathe out. Find hope in this promise, God's peace and loving thoughts are ready to flood our hearts if we would yield to Him today. Surrender today.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." I Corinthians 10:13

God never intended for the things of this world and the issues of our day to overcome us to the point where we are held captive by them. But, He always makes a way out. You have not gone too far and nothing has too strong of a hold on your life that God cannot find you and rescue you today. Whether you are on a mountain top and captivated by God Himself or whether you find yourself in the valley and consumed with all that surrounds you, take heart, God has already prepared a way for you.

Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for you are my peace and I desire to be captivated and consumed by nothing less than your love and your presence. In Jesus Name, Amen.
