Word for Today: Consistent
God is looking for consistent people. He is seeking those who are simply faithful. When the going gets rough, when life gets busy, and when it is no longer convenient or the “fad,” God is looking for those who are in it for the long haul.
How about you? Are you a consistent person in serving the Lord or are you like pop culture – in one day and out the next as soon as the feeling fades away, the crowds stop following and the hype has died down?
I believe one of the weaknesses of the Church today (churches in general) is that we have taken on much of the ways of the world’s culture in how we approach ministry and how we serve God. If I “feel” it, if it works for me or if it is the latest Christian trend, I’m there. We need to stop being people who simply follow the crowd and our feelings and begin to be a people who live by covenant (promise, contract, treaty, etc.). We have too many people who want to be Super Stars in the church and no one who is willing to be consistent and faithful to serving God in the everyday.
God doesn’t want us to just start off great and then fizzle out. He wants us to start off great, remain consistent and go out with a bang! God is not into “one-hit wonders.” He is seeking a people who are faithful and consistent. Consistent in serving Him and consistent in love. We cannot claim to serve God and to love God if we have yet to love the very people He has placed around us.
Are you the type that is consistent or are you the type that constantly changes and moves from one thing to the next because you are just seeking the hype.
