Supplies
We all like the possessing but how about the preparation? The book of Joshua begs a question from us, are we ready?
God speaks to Joshua: "Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them - to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses." 1:2-3
We all love this part. What is there not to love? Yes, we all want to 'possess'/'inherit.' BUT, we cannot neglect the important instructions that precedes any possessing of anything of true eternal impacting value:
"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." 1:7-8
And then finally,
"So Joshua ordered the officers of the people: go through the camp and tell the people, get your supplies ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own." 1:10-11
Beloved, are you in the Word? Because if you are not, you are not properly prepared for battle nor do you have the proper 'supplies.'
We all want to possess but few like to prepare.
The Word of God is Life. May God help us to read the Word, meditate on the Word, memorize the Word, obey the Word and ultimately, love the Word.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
