honesty

Honesty. Everyone appreciates honesty but why so few of us are dishing it out? The young people of today are begging for transparency and honesty, especially among leaders and those in pastoral roles. Is there anyone willing to be honest and transparent is the question that is crying out today among our teens and young adults.

Please allow me to disclaimer. I am not suggesting confession of sin, tell every single detail type of honesty/transparency to those under your care. In all things, EXERCISE DISCERNMENT AND WISDOM with what you share to protect the flock. But what I am really talking about today is 'can we be real?' Real people. Trusting a Real God but with questions and even fears from time to time. This generation is thirsty for a people who would love enough to lay down their pride to be real - honest and transparent that their eyes then may somehow be better a tune to the Truth that sets them free.

I had an opportunity to spend time with 2 of my former youth. My cup runneth over. I was blessed to be in their company and even more so, hearing their honest, 'not airbrushed' heart of what is really going on inside.

It is time for healing. It begins with honesty and transparency. First with ourselves, with our God and then with one another.

Let's be leaders who are real. We walk our faith out loud: the good, the bad and everything in between while trusting in a BIG God!
