Word: Fear (Mon. 7/20)
"Fear the Lord your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him...." Deuteronomy 10:20a
Our God is a Holy God who is to be feared.
When we speak of this type of fear, we are not referring to a type of fear that invokes terror and panic which paralyzes. We are speaking of a holy reverent because of the knowledge that at any moment God could strike us down in our sin but He withholds because of His great love.
God is calling His Church back to a holy, reverent and right fear of the Lord. Resolve to live a life that fears the Lord while there is still time. God will not be mocked and perhaps not at this very moment but there will be an appointed time we will all stand before God in judgment. What may go un-noticed or uncaught in this world, does not go un-noticed or uncaught by God. How gracious is He that He gives us time to repent! While yes God is our friend and a companion but He is not our “homeboy.” We are not on an equal level with God. But in His love, He comes down to where we are to meet us. Hallelujah!
The fear of the Lord is a matter of the heart and should be the forerunner of all things in our life. God is Holy and is to be feared. If we are to truly see our lives, our families, our churches, our society and world revolutionized, His Church needs to fear The Holy One.
Prayer: Dear Father, you are pure, holy and righteous. Worthy to be praised and worthy of me laying down my life. Teach me to fear you Lord and to properly revere and honor you in all ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
