Singleness

One thing I love to share with young women is to encourage us to shift our view on singleness. We are not defined by our “marital” status – we are defined by who we are in Christ and by His Word.

Singleness is not a “waiting” or “life on hold” period but rather an open door, a divine opportunity to serve the Lord – in all facets, from family, to friends, to co-workers and especially to others in the same season. A single is afforded so many opportunities to minister in ways that I as a married woman couldn’t. Everyone is always “envious” of those who are married, have you ever thought that we married women could be “envious” of those who are single? (not that we should practice envious or anyone is envious of anyone but you get my point). Uh huh, never thought about it that way huh? Your sphere of influence and the territory God has given you as a single is different but equally valuable as mine. May God help us to view all things as an opportunity, not a burden and not a “lot” that was handed to us that we must settle for but a privilege.

If you find yourself "on hold" or frustrated, take heart and remember this season that God has you in is just that, this season. It is not your forever. Where He has you now will not necessarily be where He will keep you forever. Seasons change.

Trust in the Lord.
